Bij veel klassieke muziekliefhebbers heerst onbekendheid rond modern klassieke muziek van eigen bodem. Gevolg hiervan is, dat veel prachtige hedendaags gecomponeerde muziek van getalenteerde Nederlandse componisten slechts sporadisch wordt uitgevoerd. Gelukkig zijn er nu allerlei initiatieven gaande om hier verandering in te brengen, denk bijvoorbeeld aan het project Meet the Composer, een initiatief van Stichting Geneco. Op 22 mei vindt een bijzonder festival in de Grote Kerk in Emmen plaats: ‘Met Ravel naar Hamburg – een dubbele spiegel’. Mijn werk wordt in de context van dat van de grote Franse componist Ravel gepresenteerd. Twee premières vinden deze dag plaats: mijn nieuwe, speciaal voor het Orion Ensemble gecomponeerde pianotrio Orion, en de documentaire ‘Orion Exposed’ van fimmaker Paul E. Visser.
